One of the problems with trying out new tools on the Web is that you need to spend some time learning how to use them properly. Some tools are not well described or explained by their creators and are unlikely to be used by many. Others don't do very much and your time is wasted.
Diggit is an image search tool. When you go to the site for the first time you get a pop up window offering you a tutorial. It is not very long, it's well put together and Diggit is very useful. So it is well worth finding out how to get the best from it. You can take the basic tutorial or go on to find out about all its features, depending on your needs and how much time you have at your disposal.
It has a database of over twelve and a half million images, you can use the text search box or you can paste in the URL of an image you are interested in and search for similar. You can also try out the same search on any of the twelve popular search tools listed.
You can mix keywords and images or just use one or the other and you can even draw the image you are looking for. This requires a small download so you can decide whether you need it first. And there's an advanced search that allows all sorts of further tricks.
When you find the image you want, clicking on it will get you a whole host of information. That includes the location of the image, the owner's contact details, size, format, etc. You can also opt to get similar images to the one you have found. This feature, along with the URL search, can sometimes give you very odd results, but I guess nothing's perfect.
You may have to try out several different tacks to find what you want. And if you want ideas on what kinds of searches to do with Diggit, do the whole of the tutorial. A lot of thought has gone into this search tool and I look forward to using it in the future. I hope you find it useful.
Cheers
Simon
