A big question, I know, but I've been asked to find out how to make our site commercial! It's a brilliant social site--we've got 40 or so regular feature writers, 13 clubs, 160 or so forum discussion people, 8,000 plus unique visitors a month (and rising) plus some of us are going to meet in the flesh by the banks of the River Thames on July 22 (we're very nervous). We're a site for the over-50s by the way; main company's work is training local older people to teach other older/nervous IT beginners in the comfort of their own homes. We've been very careful not to try anything commercial before we're ready (we're a year old) and we've heard that banner ads are not the way to go!
I suspect we need to buy ourselves a bit of education or outsource the whole job, or a bit of both. Can anyone steer me towards wise ones?
If you want to glimpse our site it's at www.hairnet.org . My background is in feature journalism so am not hugely skilled in this area even in old tech.
The webstie address (for those not party to the e-mail I sent you) is www.4-club.co.uk.

Paul
