HELP!!!

I'm trying to build some functionality into my web site involving postcodes....

I aim to have a list of chess clubs around the country, with a post code for each one.

I want anyone visiting my site to be able to enter their own postcode and then be given a list of clubs within, say, 50 miles.

I'm assuming that I need to be able to convert the chess club postcodes into grid references (easy, I can do this 'by hand' using streetmap as described in earlier messages). I then need to take the postcode entered by the user, convert it to a grid ref "on the fly" and then calculate the 'as the crow flies' distance between this grid ref and the grid ref for each club(using pythagoras I suppose!)

Any ideas/pointers?

Many thanks

Rob
