Is there a resource somewhere that lists moderated forums and 'ready-threaded' web BBSs that allow literate discussion on subjects?

I was thinking preferably of web-based boards like Free Pint, that don't require specific newsreading software, and especially those that discourage 'quotebacks', encourage conciseness and have visual, threaded message listing.

Give an infinite number of monkeys an infinite number of keyboards and one of them is bound to come up with the complete works of Shakespeare, goes the old saying. Thanks to Usenet, said one wag recently, we now know that's not true!
