Well we've had all sorts of reference resources tippled over the last few years and at least one of them was an acronym dictionary but I really liked the look of this one.

There are three ways of searching it. You can type your search term into the search box, search by letter or browse for your subject directory-style.

There are ten major sections, including computing, Internet and business. Each section is further subdivided and you can see how many entries there are for that section. Needless to say, there are a lot of acronyms associated with chat rooms and file extensions!

I particularly like the miscellaneous section which includes unfiled entries. There are nearly 28,000. The academic and science section is less developed than I would have expected but it's nice that there is such a section. And it should expand in the future.

If you want to add an entry you can submit it easily. And you can create your own edited list of acronyms to add to your favourites. This is simple and potentially very useful.

Do have a look at the statistics page, too. It's not huge but it shows the number of entries, most popular categories, longest entry, etc.

Regards
Simon
