Dear Bar

I am involved in a large search engine project that hopes to include government websites in its index. I know there have been some recent cases where owners of sites that have been indexed have taken the indexers to court. I understand that government information is open to all and that as long as Crown copyright is observed everyone is entitled to use the information contained on their websites. Does anyone know of any guidelines that must be followed when indexing government websites? Or, perhaps, who must be contacted to seek permission?

Thank you for any responses in advance.

Kind Regards
Emma
