Donating overseas without prohibitive bank fees?

I want to make a modest donation to a Vietnamese charity. The charity's sent me details of its 2 bank accounts (1 for Euro, 1 for USD) - but my bank levies a minimum fee of GBP 8.00. OK, I could transfer upto a grand for that - but for the sum I had in mind, that's a monstrous tax.
My bank's best suggestion is I ask the charity if it can process a credit/debit card transaction, and I'm following that up; I've also found a UK charity possibly working in the same field, so I'll check them out.
Can the incredible fund of FreePinter knowledge come up with any other suggestions? (Posting a cheque would, apparently, end up even more costly!)
