 Eliminating old websites

I've recently taken over as Secretary of a charity. Some years ago a long-departed member set up a website for our Group, and we simply cannot get rid of it although it's totally out of date. Nor can we update it as we have no contact with the ISP.

We have set up a new website in the meantime, some time ago, but all search engines keep bringing up the old one.

It's a real pain! Has anybody got any ideas on how to go about sorting this out?
