Has anyone applied information auditing to looking at the information
products which organisation create?
I'm writing a book (working title: Making Knowledge Visible) about how
organisations can get better value from their 'information products' - ie
the visible products (electronic or printed) through which they present
information for use to their inner or outside worlds.
I'm suggesting that information auditing makes a good starting point,
because experience shows it's a sound method for a) working out what should
be happening, and b) finding out what is actually happening - and it's a
flexible tool that can be applied in many contexts.
I've worked on one recent information audit in which information products,
and the experience of their users in using them, were a main focus. I'd
like to hear about any others that readers may know of, because throughout
the book I'm illustrating the ideas I suggest with stories and examples
drawn from real life.
Replies can be on or off-list.
