 Text analysis programs

I'm hoping to compare various anonymous texts to see if they are likely to have been written by the same person. I've heard of various academic studies analysing, say, an old poem to see if it was written by Shakespeare or whoever. Is there any simple, recommended software to do this?

I tried Googling for 'text analysis programs' and got a lot of stuff that looked like it/they might possibly be candidates, but I didn't really understand a lot of it, to be honest. I don't want an earnest breakdown, dissection or analysis, just a fairly simple result. Appreciate any pointers.

Thanks

Wow, thanks to Glen and the other for the tips. The 'zip' file solution looks the simplest!
