Your 3 top personal computer gripes?

My FreePint article on "taking control of your PC" barely touched the tip of the iceberg of responding in a systematic way to the kinds of problems with their PCs that FreePint readers bring up here, and I'd like to initiate some organized way of helping answer those gripes and questions -- as I've done for twenty years as an IT consultant.

Penny, in fact, suggested I issue an invitation for FreePinters to send me their top gripes or problems with PC software and hardware ... or, if you like, simply IT-related questions you'd like answered, whatever your reasons. I'll do my best to respond to them from the standpoint of an IT professional and teacher.

You can mail them to me directly; see below. Or, of course, you can post them here, but that will make it a bit more difficult for me to consolidate them and consider them together.

If the enterprise looks good -- i.e., gets enough of a response and I can provide useful enough answers and thoughts -- the offer will remain open, and otherwise I'll end it.

Exceptionally, here's my email address: "la(dash)(dash)a" at the domain "p-k.ch". Please begin the Subject line with "FreePint PK"; I've told my spam filters to admit such mail. ("Pete, how do you handle spam and viruses?")

Pete
