I will be as interested in the replies as you! However intranet strategies need to be based around the way your particular organisation works, and not on what others do. Much will depend on the level of support staff in departments get from senior managers.

For this reason one of the critical issues is getting intranet contribution written into job descriptions. Adding content should not be a hobby/spare time activity, but a distinct element of someone's job. Otherwise the intranet work will get squeezed out by tasks that are in the JD and then the content will become out-of-date and unreliable. The moment that employees fail to trust your intranet it is very difficult to get that trust re-established.

I've covered some of these issues in the monthly columns I write for EContent http://www.intranetfocus.com/intranets/econtent.html
