Hi people, can anyone recommend some library classification systems aside from dewey, or somewhere I can find some. Next week I start my job which involves cataloguing 25000 books from scratch; this involves shelving them and putting them onto a computer database. Some library systems have an auto-cataloguing function that searches places such as the British Library for all the relevant book information, and provides a dewey number, and then enters the info for you into the database...quite useful if you've got 25000 books to do.
However a lot of the books I'm cataloguing are 'grey' literature and will not be in the British Library so I'm looking for alternative classification systems, rather than trying to work out the individual dewey reference for each book.
Any help much appreciated, many thanks,
Tom Cole |
