I'm involved with a voluntary organisation looking for an integrated email list manager/ web-based bulletin board. Users, part of the time, will be away sailing and are therefore accessing email over mobile phones using on-board PCs, or internet cafes and the like. Bandwidth is therefore a restriction. It will be used primarily for discussion and inter-group communication but might also be used for one-way
communication for administration, marketing purposes and so on.
Requirements are
- preferably to be run from the organisation's website (presently hosted by ClaraNet which does not support conventional list managers or cron, but it could be changed)
- replies should go to the sender + an archive site but NOT to the list
- administration of the list (adding, deleting members) should be able to be done by email.
- it should preferably be web accessible for internet cafe use
- users should preferably be able to switch on and off temporarily according to need.
Any help/accounts of experience gratefully received. The person managing it knows Listserv & Majordomo, but we'd be interested to hear re Lyris or Mailman. William, what do you use for the Bar?
