Hello,
CILIP's new framework introduced in April 05 now includes a Certification which recognises those without Masters who have proved their continuous development whilst in employment.
I have only been an Assistant Information Officer for 2 years but have been holding out for this type of Certification as I still have reservations about doing a Masters.
Has anyone started on the path to Certification yet and if so what are your opinions of the framework?
Also, for all those employers out there who have only wanted to interview candidates with a Masters in Information/Library Studies, would a Certification that proves enthusiasm and ability for the sector be an alternative criteria? Are there particular qualities that you think only those with a Masters are likely to have? I am not trying to start a bar brawl on which is better post-grad qualifications or work experience. But comments on the perceived worthiness of this Certification are most welcome.
Many thanks
Ben |
