I am looking for a "dummies guide" to football in the UK. I need something that will help someone -- with no previous knowledge at all -- understand what the different football leagues are and how the games and championships in the UK work. When do the seasons start? Which teams play in which leagues and cups? When and how often are the championships held? I'm also interested in European football but only in international football in Europe, not in national leagues other than the national leagues in the UK. I've checked the websites of the FA, the Premier League, UEFA, FIFA and others. There are various rules and descriptions here and there but I can't see a good general overview. They seem to assume that you have some sense of what is what already.

Does anyone know of such a guide?
Does anyone know of a special collection in the UK with a focus on football or of an information professional who might be able to help?
