 Press releases marked as spam

I send out press releases for various clients using Mediadisk, the media database. I get a wide variety of bouncebacks, and monitor them to see if the email address is wrong (Mediadisk's problem), or to check if I'm doing something to trigger spam filters (definitely my problem!).

On a very few occasions I've had reply that suspects me of being spam and I have to deal with it. My concern is on the grey area - I often get mailserver replies that sound like the mailserver doesn't like me, but won't say why. Eg:

The recipient was unavailable to take delivery of the message
MSEXCH:MSExchangeIS:KM(u)Larkfield:KM(u)SERVER2

My question is: Do mailservers ever lie or mislead or be deliberately vague if they suspect me of spamming? Also, will mailservers marking me as 'spam' always reply, or can they stay silent? (The latter would be even worse, because then I won't know what I'm doing wrong).

Thanks for any guidance,
Andrew
