The CIPFA Better Governance Forum is pleased to announce a New 2006 highly interactive and comprehensive one-day Workshop on the Data Protection Act 1998 (“the Act”).
Data protection and privacy issues are becoming an increasing challenge for all public sector organisations that capture and store personal data. There has been increasing media focus of instances where organisations have incorrectly applied the provisions of the Act. Whilst the public sector has focused over the last 12 months on implementation challenges with FOI(S)A, cases decided and guidance from the Information Commissioner has challenged previous understanding of the Act.
