RSS and blogs are the latest technologies, but are they really beneficial in managing information or is it just hype? Karen Blakeman guides you through the jargon and demonstrates why you should seriously consider them. It examines how they can be used to manage projects, provide current awareness, generate newsletters and promote your expertise to colleagues and clients. There is also a session on wikis. Practical exercises will allow experimentation with setting up personal alerts service using RSS, starting a blog and contributing to a wiki. The techniques in this workshop can be applied to all subject areas. Karen has worked in the information profession for over twenty years and has been a freelance consultant since 1989. Her company (RBA Information Services) provides training and consultancy on the use of the Internet, and on accessing and managing information resources.
