KM vs Info Management vs Library Services

Afternoon everyone,

I've recently become aware of the information/knowledge management community via undertaking some basic resource centre administration as part of my current job.

I've found this really interesting, but was wondering if anybody could clarify the differences/overlaps between info management and KM? And where "traditional" library services and associated skills (cataloguing, archiving etc) fit in?

Would it be fair to say that KM, internet technologies, organisational learning etc are the growing fields? Do any of the Post Grad courses focus on these areas? (and it is advisable to take this route, or to get a "grounding" in library services first?)

What is the current climate of the sector? As with every profession, there seems to be a big debate around job satisfaction, salaries, recognition, future trends etc etc. Obviously, this is all highly subjective, but does the type of work/ environment play a part? (i.e. people working in library environments versus those working in commercial/ workplace environments).

Sorry for the waffle/ barrage of questions - any nuggets of wisdom most appreciated!
