www.accountingweb.co.uk is a brilliant resource for accountants. It includes the latest news and info and there are reviews and recommendations of guides to all areas of accounting from tax and auditing to career development. The community section of the site is very well developed, including a place to post up comments and questions and receive feedback from other groups. The site includes a Q and A with experts, a place to email replies and a very good humour section.
Group communication and support online has become increasingly important in recent times, owing to uncertainty in international relations and the global community. The Online Community Award recognises the importance of initiatives that bring people with common interests together in a virtual environment.
"Online technology now supports such a diverse range of communities that it was no surprise that the award received so many nominations," says William Hann, Managing Editor of FreePint. "We were particularly pleased to see entries for long-established communities and AccountingWEB are certainly a worthy winner for their popularity, longevity and future financial viability."
The award is run by CILIP in association with FreePint. FreePint is a website and regular email newsletter with advice and tips on using the Internet, created for a worldwide community of information researchers. http://www.freepint.com
