Coming in the November 2007 issue of VIP: Annual Comparative Review of Factiva, LexisNexis and Thomson news products

Next month (November) VIP will publish its annual comparative review of the 'Big Three' - Factiva, LexisNexis and Thomson. Last year's edition of this review was one of the best-selling issues of VIP of all time http://web.vivavip.com/go/vip/37.

This year, the review promises to be equally compelling, as big changes have swept through the industry in 11 short months. Among the major events is the fact that Thomson Business Intelligence's News Research product is being discontinued at the end of 2007.

'Many users are wondering which service to migrate to and what their options are within the Thomson corporation', notes Pam Foster, editor of VIP and the primary researcher for this project. 'As part of my research, I'm seeking contact with professionls who are currently or planning to review these services -- as well as other alternatives. If you are carrying out your own trials of some or all of the 'Big Three' products, please do get in touch as there may be areas on which we can compare notes.'

Pam is also seeking input on areas of research for the review, for instance country coverage, foreign-language indexing, cross-file searching, etc. Anyone with suggestions or feedback is welcome to contact Pam directly at pam.foster@vivavip.com. All feedback will, of course, be treated in the strictest confidence.
