"Knowledge Overflowing"
FreePint Award for Best Customer Service Garnered by Bureau van Dijk
Almost a lost art in an increasingly impersonal world, excellent customer service remains the focal point for FreePint's annual award, given at the International Information Awards dinner on 30 November at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, London. Award judge Olivia Freeman proudly presented this year's winner of the FreePint Award for Best Customer Service, Bureau van Dijk Electronic Publishing (BvDEP), with the engraved crystal pint glass recognising the company's outstanding customer citations for its service.
Companies are nominated for the award via customer citations. Among the customer citations for BvDEP were heartfelt and glowing comments like these:
"Support is always available with a smile in their voices, no query too small or too big."
"They combine a light hearted and friendly approach with knowledge that just seems to be overflowing out of their heads."
Freeman quoted these citations in presenting the award, noting that "they clearly speak to a level of service that goes beyond 'company policy' and speaks to the quality of the people within the organisation."
"We're very proud to have won this award," said Shaun Owen, head of support services at BvDEP's London office. "We're a client-led company and consider customer needs to be paramount. This includes product development as well as the levels of support and training we offer, which we hope combine to create a positive user experience. It's very gratifying to have our efforts acknowledged, and we're extremely grateful to all those who took the time to nominate us."
BvDEP will be featured in an upcoming issue of FreePint, the twice-monthly newsletter for information professionals around the world.
Past winners of the FreePint Award for Best Customer Service have included Factiva, Xrefer and STN Agency UK. Nominations for the 2006 award will open in the summer of 2006.
