Learn about FUMSI at Online Information 2007: New online resource will put more information, in more formats, in the hands of knowledge professionals
A practical, useful and improved online information resource to help those who need to find, use, manage or share information will be launched in January 2008. FUMSI, published by Free Pint Ltd (a respected online publisher of user-generated content, articles, newsletters and tips), is a flexible platform for finding, interacting with and using practical resources for all four practice areas (Find, Use, Manage and Share Information).
The new FUMSI offering includes searchable online database of user- submitted articles providing hands-on tips and articles relating to FUMSI work; a monthly PDF magazine of the latest articles organised and enhanced with comment from contributing editors in each practice area; FUMSI Folios collecting recent articles and resources in a specific practice area; reports and tool kits, including hands-on PDF workbooks and resources for improving information skills and completing information-related projects.
"Information has never been more important for business success. Every worker has an information role to play and organisations must support their constant improvement of information skills to compete effectively", said Robin Neidorf, General Manager of Free Pint Ltd.
"The editorial criteria for FUMSI focusses on practical information, provided by professionals in the field. The ideal FUMSI article will enable a worker to immediately solve an information-related challenge, incorporate a new tip or enhance a skill, based on the experience of peers."
By integrating all four practice areas, FUMSI improves cross-practice understanding; facilitates collaboration; enhances information skills at all levels of an organisation; increases the value of information in an organisation and pushes information work to the strategic level, rather than remaining tactical.
Robin Neidorf will be giving a series of briefings on the new FUMSI offering at Free Pint’s stand number 122 during this year’s Online Information exhibition (4-6 December 2007) at Olympia. Discounted offers on the latest series of FreePint FUMSI reports (available from <http://web.freepint.com/go/shop/report/>) are also available to those who pre-register to receive the first issue (January 2008) of the new FUMSI Magazine -- email support@freepint.com for further details.
