First In-Depth Review of Rightsphere:
VIP has published the first in-depth review of Rightsphere, an award- winning innovative product from the Copyright Clearance Center. Rightsphere, which recently won the CODiE award for Best Solution Integrating Content into Workflow, is the only-of-its-kind enterprise solution to help businesses manage copyright permissions and comply with usage licenses for content.
'Now that so much content is available in a digital format, it has never been easier to copy, email or forward items of interest for your own use or that of your work colleagues', noted Pam Foster, editor of VIP and primary researcher for the review. 'At the same time, it's often difficult to find out what you are allowed to do with an item without violating either your company's IP compliance policies or copyright law. Enter Rightsphere, which aims to take away this confusion. I first saw Rightsphere demonstrated at last year's Online Information event and was impressed by its apparent ease-of-use.'
Pam worked closely with CCC to gain access to a testbed environment, conduct her independent trial, and gather information about user applications since launch. VIP also commissioned an interview with an early adopter customer to gain further insight into how Rightsphere performs in the workplace. Journalist Tim Buckley Owen interviewed James Morris, Service Delivery Manager for the Virtual Library Platform at AstraZeneca R&D, on their Rightsphere implementation.
'VIP readers have come to expect timely, thorough reviews of the best new products on the market and we were only too happy to provide Pam with the unfettered access she needed to put Rightsphere through its paces', said Bill Burger, Vice President of Marketing at CCC. 'VIP reaches an important audience of leaders in the information industry who have come to rely on it for thoughtful, independent reports on the companies and products that shape our industry. I was impressed by the time and effort Pam put into gaining a deep understanding of how Rightsphere works and the value it provides.'
Among the findings of the review are the following:
VIP, a monthly magazine of news analysis and reviews of premium content products, is one of the industry's most trusted sources for practical information about content products. VIP reviews include in- depth product trials, screen shots, step-by-step descriptions and a summary 'VIP's View' highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of the product. In this case,
'VIP prides itself on often being the first to provide in-depth information on important products. This month's issue is a prime example and the Rightsphere IT team pulled out all the stops to provide a site we could test out in time to meet our deadline,' Pam said.
Individual issues of VIP can be purchased for GBP 54 (+VAT where applicable) for a single site, or GBP 135 for multiple sites. To purchase VIP Issue No. 41, featuring the review of Rightsphere, visit: http://web.vivavip.com/go/vip/41
