LexisNexis and Factiva compared in new product review
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

An independent comparative product review of LexisNexis and Factiva has just been published by VIP.

VIP devotes its entire September issue to this in-depth comparative review, and the issue is available to purchase online as a one-off copy priced GBP45 or by annual subscription at GBP145 at:

http://www.vivavip.com/vip/

Comprehensive and Independent

The LexisNexis and Factiva services are extensively and independently compared in terms of number of sources, analysis by subjects, type of publication, language, geography (including a table comparing numbers of sources for hard-to-find countries); length of archive, number of full-text items, number of abstracts, number of translated items; and timeliness (how long before an item becomes available online).

The review also covers: company information coverage; screening; functionality; list options; sources; search options and syntax; codes and indexing (Factiva Intelligent Indexing and LN SmartIndexing Technology); sort options; output formats; and saving/printing options.

Additionally, the review also looks at current awareness options; personalisation features; administrative tools; and user support. The duplication policies of both companies are also considered

The same searches are carried out on both Factiva.com and LexisNexis Professional, and the results are analysed in terms of overlap, type of publication and more.

Interactive VIP

The forthcoming October issue of VIP will review Dialog NewsRoom. The same features will be examined and some of the data from the Factiva/LexisNexis reviews will be included alongside Dialog NewsRoom data, enabling readers to compare all three services at a glance.

Pam Foster, VIP's Editor, says:

"From the start VIP has been interactive. Readers have been telling me what products they would like to see reviewed and compared, and large numbers requested that I compare LexisNexis, Factiva and Dialog.

"Anyone can post their ideas for other reviews at the VIP Lounge <http://www.vivavip.com/> or email me, in confidence, at <pam.foster@vivavip.com>."
